I meet with an expert in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) recently.
I am a big fan of NLP.
I see value in it and I believe it can help people.
Tony Robbins built his early career around teaching NLP.
As I listened to this person speak I knew he could so much more successful if he could step back and notice others and how they want to be treated.
He is a Socializer (using Platinum Rule terms) and he treated me like one.
I could not get a word in.
It was all about him. When I did get a word in, he did not see how The Platinum Rule could help him.
I finally shared with him all the things The Platinum Rule teaches about being a Socializer.
He stopped dead in his tracks and asked me how I knew so much about him in our short discussion.
He finally stopped long enough to hear what I was saying. So much so that he is coming to my Platinum Rule workshop.
I hope he takes it to heart. Combining the power of NLP with The Platinum Rule will increase his sales, improve is effectiveness and allow him to implement his craft to more people.
The lesson? Listen. Ask questions. Respond to others the way they want to be treated and watch you life change.
